Cuba has Rebelliousness Day, 26th July. On the 26th of July 1953 a group of revolutionaries attempted to take the Moncasda barracks in Santiago De Cuba which was the second most important barracks at the time for the Batista Regime.

This date commemorates the start of the first war of independence in 1868 when Carlos Manuel De Cespedes freed his slaves and urged them to join him and fight against the colonial power of Spain, Cespedes was killed during the first war he started, but a series of wars followed on from what he started until 1898 and the republic was established 4 years later.
